Leela Misel is a multicultural singer-songwriter who draws inspiration from her Indonesian-Malaysian heritage to create a unique blend of pop, blues, rock, and soul.

As a cultural nomad, she embraces her identity as a wanderer, using her music to explore the complexities of the human experience.

Her storytelling and catchy melodies offer an uplifting and energizing experience, while also delving into the darker aspects of life.

Self-accompanied on guitar and sometimes flute, Leela Misel shines a light on the human condition, inviting listeners on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment.

Leela Misel recently released her debut pop-rock single 'Switch' which explores themes of race and identity, while growing up as a mixed race brown girl in Australia. Launched at the Aireys Inlet Music Festival, she continues to play her solo show at small, intimate venues across Melbourne and regional Victoria.

'Switch' is ranked #1 on the Broadjam Rock - Modern List and had airplay on 96.5 InnerFM (New Grooves), 88.6 Plenty Valley FM (Prime Rock), Fleurieu FM (Saturday Afternoon), Triple Z (Drive @5).and gained almost 5K streams in it's first 12 months.

'Switch' has also been reviewed by The Indie Music Insider, pophits.co, KIMU, CheerstotheVikings.com, motionnews.it, and is featured on the Indie Rock compilation by Sounds On The Couch as well as on 'Cultural Popcorn', a global radio show based in Columbus, Ohio.

A classically trained flautist, the pandemic inspired Leela Misel to learn guitar for the first time, and embark on an unexpected, emotional journey into the craft of song writing and home recording. Ever since, she’s been driven to create powerful melodies and upbeat grooves that you can't help but bop your head to. 

Based in Melbourne (Naarm), Australia, Leela Misel is back in the studio recording her next few singles.

You can also find her performing with the popular cover band X-GenZ (vocals, harmonica) the blues rock powerhouse band Stonetrain (vocals, flute) and side-project Rambling Seeds (vocals, acoustic guitar).
