Leela Misel — Melbourne singer-songwriter, guitarist and flautist

The Story So Far

Singer-songwriter. Guitarist. Flautist. Three decades of live performance, one unmistakable voice.

Leela Misel is a Melbourne-based singer-songwriter born in Australia, with Indonesian and Malaysian Tamil heritage that shapes how she sees the world and what she writes about.

Her sound sits at the intersection of rock, blues and soul - powerful vocals with a raw edge, guitar, and a flute that brings something few rock artists carry on stage.

She's been performing live for close to three decades. Her original music explores burnout, identity, family, and finding stillness - themes that are personal, but land universally.

Her debut single Switch reached the Melbourne Semi-Finals of the Australian Songwriting Prize  (Listen Up Music) and earned an Honourable Mention. Since then she's released five more singles, most recently Take Me To Your Water (January 2026).
